ANTONIO'S
(906-885-5223)
A diner/family restaurant in White Pine's onetime mall, Antonio's has a loyal clientele of regulars in White Pine and Silver City. They come for the good hamburgers, subs, soups, and Italian, American, and Mexican menus. Favorites are baked pasta with cheese and Italian sausage and excellent pizza. Thin-crust is the regional specialty; deep-dish is also available. A large supreme with "everything you can think of" is $15. Wednesday is pasty night, Thursday is usually lasagna night. One waitress loves to bake; her occasional desserts and cookies are very good.
KONTEKA
(906) 885-5170
The Konteka offers a full menu all day, year-round—much appreciated by locals who are tired of some restaurants' fluctuating schedules. Soup, salad, and sandwich menu any time. Friday fish fry (under $10) includes broiled or fried fish, potato, and salad bar. Prime rib on Saturday. Designed by noted architect Alden Dow, a student of Frank Lloyd Wright. Dow loved to bring nature inside. The dining room looks out onto the woods. Black bears are often seen through the restaurant windows. Good Sunday breakfast buffet ($8) from 9-1. The bar has a pool table and jukebox; it's connected to bowling lanes.
