THREE LAKES MOTEL
(906) 323-6101; (866) 4-3LAKES
This simple 10-unit motel on U.S. 41 is immaculately clean, convenient, and inexpensive—$40 for single rooms, $50 for rooms with two double beds. All rooms have microwaves and minifridges. There's a card table, satellite TV, coffee, and hot chocolate in the comfy office. Cell phone reception. A groomed trail on state land to snowmobile trails becomes a hiking trail in summer. Horseshoes, campfire pit. Stump's Tavern with food is right next door. Cozy Inn is 4 miles west, Mt. Shasta 4 miles east in Michigamme. Not air-conditioned. Two TV channels. No internet access. Owner-managers D. and Fred Cox are snowmobile enthusiasts and outdoors-lovers who moved here from southwest Michigan to do what they love. They both fish, too. He repairs snowmobiles and ATVs (three ORV trails are nearby) and is a bear guide. On snowmobile trail 8.

On U.S. 41 at the east end of Three Lakes, 4 miles west of Michigamme. Handicap access: one step, bathtub not shower. $5/extra person. Kids free. Dogs OK; $5/stay.
