Tannery Falls—Tannery Creek

Tannery Falls
Wayne Premo

This is one of the prettiest waterfalls; it is in a canyon-like setting in Alger County.
This is not marked, but it is fairly easy to locate. The walk is muddy at the start but it is not a hard walk. It is worth seeing.

This waterfall is almost in Munising. At the blinker, where M-28 makes a right angle, go north toward Grand Marais (on road that some of our sources indicate is East Munising Avenue). Soon, after turning north, a road goes left to Munising Falls.

The road is a "Y" at this point, go to the right of the "Y" and park. Walk past the south side of a boarded up house (see below) and continue for two hundred yards to the waterfall.

Ability to Locate: Fairly Easy
Access by Hiking: Fairly Easy
Beauty of Falls: Outstanding
