adhocWORKshop

| adhocWorkshop, Rapid River |
Modestly unsigned, this funky shop—one of the coolest in the U.P.—is crammed with the inspired concoctions of artist Ritch Branstrom. Out of a wild assortment of old cans, coils, shotgun shells, and whatnot, delightful shapes are skillfully contrived—of birds, dogs, fish, hyenas, bugs, dinosaurs, and whatever else comes to Ritch's mind. He's been drawn to this sort of thing as a child, and it took a dismal dose of failure at learning to be an engineer to steer him back to his natural artistic talents. In keeping with his quirky mind, he signs
each of his works not just with his name, but with the date it was completed and the current Rapid River temperature and weather conditions.
