| Horseshoe Falls is close to Munising but costs $5/person to visit. |
Waterfalls are one of the area's big attractions. Six are almost in town.Look at the Munising side of the local Chamber of Commerce map for in-town waterfalls. Popular Munising Falls
The dramatic sandstone horseshoe formation framing Munising Falls is as much a spectacle as the falling waters itself.
is at the west end of Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. (For seven other falls within the national lakeshore, consult the map and our descriptions.)
ALGER FALLS is right on M-28 east of town as the highway descends from the Wetmore hill.

WAGNER FALLS is more secluded and more powerful. From M-28 south of Munising, take M-94 west for about half a mile to the roadside area marked "Wagner Falls." It's about a thousand feet to the falls.
Two of the most charming and least visited waterfalls are on the east edge of town, part of the Michigan Nature Association's TWIN WATERFALL PLANT PRESERVE. Trails to them are quite steep, so be prepared to use your hands and seat to reach them. From M-28 by the Pictured Rocks Visitor Center, turn onto East Munising Ave./H-58. Take H-58 to Washington Street, a little over a mile, and park. Walk back across H-58 to the trail to Tannery Creek or Rudy Olson Memorial Falls. Take the trail on the south side of the river for the short, steep walk to the falls. To get to Memorial Falls, get back to H-58 and continue east a quarter mile. Turn south onto Nestor and go a block to signs, on the right. Paths lead to the top of the waterfall canyon, so be careful.
