Slim's chef Alecia Daralby has been making great pies and hot beef sandwiches for over 36 years.

Though redecorating has turned the visual atmosphere into more of a generic small-town country look, retains its special social ambiance as "the best place to see people who hardly ever cross the lift bridge in their whole life," according to one fan. The pies are prized by many, the favorite being blueberry. Hot-beef sandwiches are a U.P. mainstay, but the ones here are exceptional, served on homemade bread, mashed potatoes, and gravy.
