Bird's-Eye Creations

Bird's-eye shop
A few of the many items sold at the shop.

No one knows why some sugar maple trees yield wood with a beautiful bird's-eye pattern. It's expensive and rare (up to $80 a board foot) and mostly found in the northern half of the Keweenaw. The adjoining sister company, A&M Forest Marketing, sells the unfinished wood worldwide. The steering wheels of Jaguar have a bird's-eye veneer, as does the Lexus.

In the shop you can buy various sizes of kitchen cutting boards (up to $80 each). Beautiful pool cues are $180. There's a big assortment of other objects, from bird's-eye toilet seats to bowls.
