Gladstone Bay Campground
(906) 428-9222. Reservable year-round by phone or at gladstonemi.org/recreational facilities rental
Oaks tower over some of the 63 campsites at this waterfront park. It's just east of Van Cleve Park and its 1,500 feet of sandy beach. A boardwalk makes it easy to fish and enjoy sunsets over Little Bay de Noc. It goes through a natural area rich in wildlife. There's a small playground here, and horseshoes and a spectacular Kids' Kingdom playground in the nearby park. Campers enjoy being just a walk or bike ride away from downtown shops. Sites are mainly open, without shrubby buffers. Some are pull-thru. All sites have WiFi internet. All except for the 13 primitive tent sites have cable TV, and water and sewer hookups. Full hookup $24/night, just electric $21, tent $14. 13 primitive or tent sites are $14. There's a new shower house and a dump station.

Open from early May through mid-October. Reservations can be made online.
