Fayette State Park
Fayette Townsite is only part of this 711-acre park. A 5-mile trail system of several loops starts at the state park parking lot near the campground. It connects the beach, campground, and townsite, and winds through a beech-maple hardwood forest. Terrain is basically flat. The beautiful, sandy swimming beach, 2,000' long, is backed by low dunes, with an adjacent picnic area. It's off a separate drive south of the main entrance but also off of M-183. Trails are used (but not necessarily groomed) for cross-country skiing. The trail through the townsite has got to be one of the most interesting easy trails anywhere.
