BEAR TRACK CABINS
(906) 932-2144
The original Bear Track Inn is the largest rental unit in this little complex. It's a log house built in the 1930s as a tavern for loggers from those lumber camps and mills still operating in the nearby woods. The setting, among large maples and hemlocks, has a real presence. Sandstone Falls is across the road. Rainbow, Potawatomi, and Gorge falls are within half a mile. Over the years, innkeeper/builder Norm Bishop has fashioned 3 pleasant housekeeping cabins: the original inn, made brighter and airier, and 2 newer cabins behind it. Behind the cabins, trails connect with an extensive network of cross-country ski and mountain bike trails. Norm rents snowshoes and can spend a couple hours snowshoeing with guests.
The cabins are furnished in casual, appropriately woodsy style. They have lots of interesting touches, including handsome wood-burning stoves. Each cabin has a grill and a picnic table. A Finnish wood-fired sauna is a separate building. The one-time inn sleeps 7 comfortably and rents for $165 in summer, more in winter. One smaller cabin sleeps 2 to 4, the other 2 to 5. Rates for these two are $90 for 2, plus $17/extra person. Ages 3 and under free. Call in August or earlier for good winter weekend availability. Summer is more flexible.

Near the end of CR 513, 1 mile from Lake Superior and Black River Harbor. Handicap access: call. Well-behaved dogs: $15.
