Cozy Corners Tavern and Grill
(906) 647-1051
Before it was destroyed by fire, Cozy Corners had been a small, cozy place overlooking the St. Mary's River. Now it is quite a large rustic-style restaurant with good food and a hospitable atmosphere. Most everything is super-sized, starting with large portions on the full lunch and dinner menus and moving on to items like the mooseburger, with a pound of ground beef, a pound of ham, and a pound of bacon. There's happy hour from 2 to 6 p.m., and dinner specials Thursday through Sunday. The salad bar is Thursday thru Saturday in winter, daily in summer. Thursday's all-you-can-eat chicken wing night ($7) is the biggest hit. Friday brings local whitefish with soup and salad ($13).
"This is the U.P.'s dead animal bar," proclaim owners Jack and Linda VanLoon on cozycornersbarbeau.com and in promotions. "Beautiful animal mounts—must be seen to be appreciated." There's more to be seen: big-screen TVs for sporting events, and downbound freighters passing by the outside deck. There's a dock and boat launch right outside. Summer weekends bring live entertainment or DJ and a volleyball net. There's indoor shuffleboard year-round.
